At A level, the academy offers scholarships to highly academically able students who would otherwise be unable to afford to take up a place. There is a limit to the number of scholarships which can be allocated, and in practice, only students who can show evidence that they have the ability to comfortably achieve the top grades will be eligible.

Unlike some other colleges, the academy considers its primary strength to be its small size coupled with its friendly and caring approach.
